Ethics

As maker and designer, I try to be as honest and transparent as I can in regards to the environmental impact of my practice. It’s important to me in my personal life, so should be reflected within my work too.

The pieces I make are designed and crafted in small batches (or as one-offs) to keep them personal, mindfully made and to reduce waste.

For precious metals, I use either Fairtrade or recycled alloys from suppliers I trust. The Fairtrade gold standard ensures that small scale miners receive a fair wage for their work, as well as safer working conditions with strict requirements on health and safety, handling chemicals, child labour, women’s rights and the protection of the environment. You can read more about this here.

I use gemstones from suppliers who hold high standards in ethical and traceable gemstone sourcing.

My packaging is recyclable, with the exception of cotton pouches which are designed to be reused. Postcards, order cards and business cards are made from recycled paper.

I’d like all my pieces to be enjoyed and worn - so please get in touch if you require a service, polish or repair on something. You can also refer to the aftercare page for advice on looking after your jewellery to ensure they are taken care of properly.

The jewellery industry has a complicated history when it comes to ethics and sustainability — from sourcing to production, it can be difficult to navigate, especially as a solo maker. I do my best to make mindful choices wherever I can, and I’m always learning. This is an ongoing process, and there’s always room for improvement — but I approach it with care, curiosity, and a commitment to doing better.
