Shop FAQ

Ordering + Delivery

Each piece is handcrafted by me in my Glasgow studio. Unless otherwise stated on the product page, please allow 5–7 working days for your order to be dispatched. I always do my best to send orders sooner where possible, but this may vary depending on current workload and the piece you've ordered.

Depending on the piece, your jewellery will be packaged either in a reusable cotton drawstring pouch or a branded jewellery box, carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue paper to help protect it in transit. If you don't require the pouch or box, just let me know when placing your order.

Orders are sent in an FSC-certified cardboard box. To reduce paper waste, I no longer include printed invoices with orders, but I'm always happy to email you a copy if you'd like one.

Commissions

Many of my designs can be made in different metals, gemstones, colours or sizes. If you have something else in mind, I'd be delighted to discuss a bespoke commission with you. You can find out more on the Bespoke page or in the 'Bespoke Process' section below, and read what previous clients have said on the Testimonials page.

Hallmarking

All of my pieces comply with UK hallmarking legislation. Where a piece is over the legal weight threshold, it will be hallmarked. A hallmark is your guarantee of the precious metal's purity and tells you who made the piece, where it was assayed and, in some cases, the year it was hallmarked.

By law, not all jewellery is required to be hallmarked. This depends on the type of precious metal and its weight. For example, silver pieces weighing under 7.78g are exempt, although they are still made using the same quality precious metals.

Pieces made using Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold can also carry an additional SMO hallmark, identifying the gold as being sourced from a single responsibly operated mine.

Every hallmarked piece carries my maker's mark alongside the appropriate precious metal and assay office marks. Where a full hallmark isn't required, some pieces may still be stamped with my maker's mark where the design allows.

Gift Vouchers

A digital gift voucher can be redeemed against any online purchase or put towards a bespoke commission. If you'd like to use it for a commission, just get in touch.

Once you've placed your order, you'll receive an email containing a unique voucher code to use at checkout. If the voucher is a gift, you can simply forward the email to the recipient, or I'm happy to send it directly to them instead.

If you'd prefer to give something physical, I can also post your voucher for an additional £3. It will be handwritten on one of my brightly coloured A6 risograph-printed notelets, along with a personalised message of your choice.

Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. They cannot be exchanged for cash, and any remaining balance cannot be refunded.

Please note that multiple gift voucher codes cannot currently be redeemed in a single online transaction. If you'd like to use more than one voucher, just get in touch and I'll be happy to arrange your order via email.

Gifts

If your order is a gift and you'd like it sent directly to the recipient, just let me know and I'd be happy to include a handwritten note with your message.

Returns + Exchanges

f for any reason you're not completely happy with your purchase, please get in touch and I'll do my best to resolve the issue.

You may return eligible items within 14 days of receiving your order. For hygiene reasons, earrings cannot be returned unless faulty. Return postage is the responsibility of the customer, and I recommend using a tracked or signed-for service, as I cannot be held responsible for items lost in transit.

As every piece is handmade, slight variations in colour, finish and form are part of their individual character.

Please note that bespoke and commissioned pieces cannot be refunded or exchanged. However, where possible, I'm always happy to discuss alterations or adjustments to ensure you're delighted with your piece.

For full details, please see the Terms & Conditions.

International Shipping

International orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked & Signed wherever possible. Please note that some countries have restrictions on shipping jewellery, so delivery methods may vary. Any customs duties, taxes or import charges are the responsibility of the customer.

Repairs

Quality and craftsmanship are incredibly important to me. Jewellery is designed to be worn and enjoyed, but by its nature it is also delicate and should be treated with care.

If your piece ever requires a repair, please get in touch. All repairs are assessed on an individual basis, but I'm unable to repair jewellery made by other makers or retailers.

If a fault is due to a manufacturing defect (rather than accidental damage, misuse or general wear), I'll repair it free of charge within 120 days of receiving your order. Repairs required after this period, or those resulting from accidental damage, misuse or general wear, may incur a repair charge.

As every repair is different, I'll always assess the piece first and discuss any costs with you before carrying out any work. The customer is responsible for postage costs.

Bespoke Process & FAQs

Bespoke Process

I usually recommend meeting for an initial consultation to chat through your ideas, discuss design options, explore different metals and gemstones, and work out the right proportions and ring size where needed. It's also helpful to have an idea of your budget, as I can advise on the most suitable options.

Following the consultation, I'll provide a quote and, where appropriate, sketches based on everything we've discussed. Once a design has been agreed, the making process typically takes around 8–10 weeks, although I'm sometimes able to work to shorter timescales if you have a particular date in mind.

New pieces are made using Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold or recycled precious metals from trusted suppliers. If you're interested in remodelling existing jewellery, I'm also happy to work with your own heirloom gold where suitable.

For more information about hallmarking and the materials I use, please see the relevant FAQ sections.

Payment

A 50% deposit is required before work begins, with the remaining balance due on completion of your piece.

Can I visit your studio?

Yes – studio visits are by appointment only, so please get in touch to arrange a time. I’m happy to offer evening and weekend appointments where possible if weekdays aren’t practical for you.

If you're not local, or would prefer not to visit the studio, I'm also happy to discuss commissions via email or Zoom.

Can I have a bespoke ring re-sized?

Yes. Most bespoke rings can be resized if needed. A first resize starts from £45, depending on the metal and design.

That said, it's always preferable to get the size right from the outset. Some ring styles can only be adjusted by one or two sizes, and others may not be suitable for resizing at all.

If you're unable to visit the studio, I'm happy to post out a ring sizer, or you can let me know your size if you've been measured elsewhere. Please note that while these options are helpful, they're not always as accurate as being sized in person.

How long does a bespoke commission take?

From signing off a design, most commissions take around 8–10 weeks to complete. This can vary depending on the complexity of the piece and my current workload, and I'll always discuss an estimated timescale with you before work begins. If you have a particular date in mind, please let me know as I can often accommodate this.

What metals do you use?

I work primarily in silver and gold, and depending on the design I can also work in platinum. New pieces are made using Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold or recycled precious metals from trusted suppliers. If you're remodelling existing jewellery, I'm also happy to work with your own gold where suitable.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. Depending on the commission, I charge a design fee before beginning the design process. This is fully deductible from the final cost of your commission once you decide to go ahead.

Where is my piece hallmarked?

Where required by UK hallmarking legislation, all bespoke pieces are hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office. For more information about hallmarking and what the marks mean, please see the Hallmarking FAQ.

Can I commission a piece without knowing a ring size?

Yes. However, it's always preferable to know your ring size before making begins. While most rings can be resized, some designs can only be adjusted by one or two sizes, and others may not be suitable for resizing at all. I'm happy to advise on this during the design process.

Do you do everything inhouse?

I design every piece from my Glasgow studio and carry out all finishing work myself. Depending on the design, pieces may be hand fabricated, carved in wax or created using CAD before being cast.

Where needed, I also work with a small network of trusted specialists, including expert setters, UK casting houses and the Edinburgh Assay Office. These are all skilled craftspeople whose expertise helps ensure every piece is made to the highest standard.
